Stock Asylum Staff Report
Sept. 14, 2007

The newsletter portion of The Stock Asylum web site will be available by paid subscription only after Sept. 30, it was announced on this date. A short version of every article and other web site features will continue to be free for the time being.

"We've reached the point where we simply cannot continue to improve The Stock Asylum without charging readers a small fee for the valuable stock photography information and analysis they receive," said Managing Editor Ron Rovtar.

During an introductory period before Sept. 30, Stock Asylum readers will be able to subscribe for just $25 for the first year. The price will go up on Oct. 1.

The Stock Asylum has grown in depth and breadth since it uploaded its image catalog to the internet in 2003. A year later, the web site published its first articles. Soon The Stock Asylum replaced occasional stories with almost daily stock photo industry coverage.

"Today we have a section with regular news and analysis, a column by accomplished stock photographer John Terence Turner, a news briefs section, and the new Web Watch feature, which points our readers to interesting articles elsewhere on the internet.

"We have become nothing less than a professionally produced electronic newspaper for the stock photography industry," asserted Rovtar. "The value we offer is enormous and we look forward to bringing our readers even better coverage in the future"

To make the transition as easy as possible, the Web Watch page, news briefs and Turner's column will remain free until further notice. Some or all of these features will eventually fall under the subscription part of the site. However, the image catalog and other resources for image buyers will be free indefinitely.

Until that date, annual subscriptions cost just $25.
