Jupiter's New Creative Team . . .

Stock Asylum Staff Report
January 19, 2006

JupiterImages will try to bring some order to the farflung creative teams it inherited through its frenzy of stock photography acquisitions over the last three years.

"Today we are very pleased to announce some significant changes that bring the creative groups from those respected companies together into one JupiterImages team capable of quickly bringing to market images that compete with the best in the industry," the company said in a letter to contributors sent out this date.

Among the changes are several promotions, including the elevation of Mark Berns to senior vice president of creative operations. Berns and Jeffrey Burke, senior vice president of product strategy, will lead the company's international creative team. Berns was chief technology officer at Jupitermedia, which owns JupiterImages.

Edie Tobias and Sal Siggia will become vice presidents of creative content. Patricia Vargas has been promoted to senior director of creative content and will manage subscription collections.

Lynn Martin has been named vice president of strategy and creative intelligence while Maria Kessler becomes vice president of creative business affairs.

Tobias was formerly president of Sharpshooters, director of photography at Corbis and collection director for Brand X Pictures. He will oversee rights-managed collections.

Siggia has 20 years experience in the stock photo industry and was group content director for Dynamic Graphics. He leads the teams responsible for royalty-free collections.

Vargas, formerly of Hemera Images and ArtToday, will be responsible for the company's combined subscription service called JupiterImages Unlimited. She will direct content teams for many of the brands that contribute to the service.

Martin, formerly of the Image Bank, Aperture Foundation, Getty and Corbis, will track sales, customer feedback and market research to "ensure an optimized and competitive product mix.

Kessler, who has worked for the National Basketball Association and FPG, will manage image acquisitions and third party image partnerships.

In addition, Ed Gronske will lead in-house image production at the Comstock studio in Mountainside, NJ.

The company said its creative team now has more than 75 professionals, including 12 collection directors.
