JupiterImages Buys French Company . . .

JupiterImages has purchased all outstanding shares of PR Direct SAS a French supplier of royalty-free stock photography with offices in Paris and Menthon-St. Bernard.

Jupitermedia, which owns JupiterImages, said the European company is "a leading distributor of royalty-free digital images for business users and creative professionals."

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In his weblog today, Jupitermedia CEO Alan Meckler called PR Direct SAS, "a small, but powerful distributor with a long history in France."

Meckler noted that JupiterImages recently purchased Goodshoot, a French company that creates royalty-free photography.

"Thus the marriage of our other brands, Goodshoot and a pure distribution business makes for a solid foundation to build out our French operations," Meckler wrote.

In September, Masterfile also entered the French market directly with the purchase of 080 SARL, a Paris-based stock distributor. Masterfile has been building a European distribution channel to replace the one it is losing because of Corbis' purchase of zefa. Zefa subdistributes Masterfile images in Europe, but the arrangement ends in January .
