The Stock Asylum's Internet Directory is a unique stock photography service that lets you search numerous web sites for high-quality, rights-managed stock photography.
Most search results will take you to web pages that contain stock images. In a very few cases, we have linked to pages that let you refine your search.
For the most part, you will use keywords exactly the way you do at Google, Yahoo and many other search engines.
However, on The Stock Asylum, you have two options in a pull-down menu under the search box. If you search with two or more words, the default option, "Search All Words," limits your results to pages keyworded for ALL the words you entered. "Search Any Words" will return a greater number of results. This option provides results for each and every individual word entered.
For example, suppose you type the words "business" and "women." Our default option, "Search All Words," will return pages keyworded for both words, so the results will be limited to pages that have women in business-related situations. Pages that primarily display images of businessmen or pictures of women at home should not appear.
Use the "Search Any Words" option and you will find links to pages with all kinds of business images as well as pages with women in many situations, including women at home, shopping, playing with children and at the office.
The Stock Asylum has found that linking to pages within some database web sites can result in web pages that do not include basic contact information. This information would be present had you reached the same page from within the particular web site. We apologize for this inconvenience, but, in these isolated cases, we have found no way around this.
You can, of course, obtain contact information by going to the web page URL at the top of your browser window and removing all the characters after the first forward-slash. Hit "enter" on your keyboard. This should take you to the web site's home page where contact and other information should be available.
Be aware that The Stock Asylum Internet Stock Directory links to independent web sites over which The Stock Asylum has no control. These web sites are governed by their own rules and customs. You may need to sign in before you can see larger versions of thumbnail images. You may also need to contact the web site owner about using any image for comping purposes. And, of course, you must contact the web site owner about licensing and paying for any image usage. You should make sure you understand the rules and business practices of these web sites and abide by them.
In addition, The Stock Asylum strongly urges you to make sure all images you license and/or use are properly released for your intended usages and do not infringe on the rights of any third parties. Do not use any images without permission of the copyright owner. It is illegal and morally wrong.
