Few western photographers can
claim more time in China than Dennis Cox.
Cox has specialized in photographing China since 1976. As co-founder (with
Norman Snyder) and director of Photo Explorer Tours, Cox has led numerous
photo excursions to China since 1981 and to other international destinations
since 1996.
Though he no longer does assignment work, Cox has been a regular contributor
to Forbes, Midwest Living, U.S. News and World Report and Information
Week, Cox has also been published by GEO, Life, Travel & Leisure,
National Geographic Traveler, Esquire and many others. He has published
four books about China and his home state of Michigan.
A frequent photography teacher and mentor, Cox won the 1997 Travel Photographer
of the Year Award from the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW).
He was runner-up for the same honor in both 1998 and 1999. His 1984 portfolio
on China won him an Award of Excellence from Communication Arts.
His work has been profiled in Darkroom Photography and Photographer’s

Cox is a member of the American Society of Picture Professionals, Stock
