A lifelong love of nature and the gift of a pocket instamatic camera led Cincinnati native Lynne P. Nieman to her vocation as a nature photographer.

"As a child, I loved playing in the wooded areas near my parents' home. I loved climbing trees, especially the big maple tree in the front yard," said Nieman.

Graduating to her first 35mm camera at the age of 15, Nieman began photographing sunsets flowers and trees. "It was just what I was drawn to," she noted.

Nieman received her associate degree in commercial photography from the Ohio Institute of Photography in 1995. She moved to Colorado shortly afterwards to pursue a career in commercial and nature photography. She now lives in Golden, CO, which is 15 miles west of Denver and just about as close to the Rocky Mountains as one can get without being in them.

"I love being outside in the natural world," said Nieman. "It is a spiritual experience for me. It is my hope that my passion for the natural world comes across in the images I create."

Recently, Nieman has taken up rock climbing and plans to create a portfolio of images of her new sport. "It's like a ballet on rock -- balance, athleticism and a strong mind are all important," Nieman asserted.

Nieman's commercial client list includes the city of Golden, Smith Gallery, Recreation Facilities Design and Management School, All America Investment, Johnson Storage and Moving and Mt. Vernon Event Center. Her stock photography is represented by Stock RM, Bruce Coleman, Inc. and TIPS.
