About Ron Niebrugge . . . 907.224.7280 Many nature photographers know how to shoot beautiful images, but few understand how those images fit into the marketing programs of clients like Continental Airlines and Walt Disney World. With a masters of business administration from University of California at Irvine, Ron Niebrugge does understand and this makes him an especially valuable resource for his clients. Born in San Diego, California, Neibrugge and his family moved to the interior of Alaska when he was 12 years old. He said his family chose to move to the 49th state after visiting friends. "We all loved it and, at the end of the summer, took a family vote and decided to make Alaska home," Niebrugge said. He noted that the vote was taken before his family experienced its first Alaskan winter. Nevertheless, the family stayed, purchasing and operating a small restaurant near what is now the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. The move awoke in Niebrugge an abiding love of nature and a desire to capture it on film.
Today, Niebrugge is equally comfortable photographing resort properties at tourist destinations or working with a biologist in remote parts of the world. And, he notes, he does both. Niebrugge also has trekked into remote areas of Kenai Fords National Park for the U. S. Park Service, climbed a mountain to cover a race for Runner's World magazine and ventured into Prince William Sound in the Alaskan winter for Continental Airlines.
His photographs have been used by National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Levi's, Smithsonian, Alaska Airlines and a number of large advertising agencies. Niebrugge sells his own stock imagery and licenses his work through distributors like Accent Alaska, Mira, Alamy, and Megapress, Japan.
